Bonus
CasinoA casino bonus is free money or free spins offered by an online casino to attract or retain players, subject to wagering requirements.
A casino bonus is promotional credit offered by online casinos to attract new players (a Welcome Bonus) or retain existing ones (reload bonuses and loyalty rewards). Bonuses come in several forms: matched deposit bonuses, where the casino adds a percentage of your deposit; no-deposit bonuses, which grant a small amount of free credit without any deposit; Free Spins on specific slots; and Cashback offers that return a slice of net losses.
The single most important attached condition is the Wagering Requirement, often written as a multiple such as 35x. Worked example: you deposit 100 and claim a 100% match, giving 100 in bonus and a 200 balance. If the wagering requirement is 35x the bonus, you must place 35 x 100 = 3,500 in qualifying wagers before any bonus-derived funds can be withdrawn. On a slot with a Return To Player (RTP) of 96%, turning over 3,500 carries an expected cost of roughly 4% of 3,500, about 140 in theoretical losses, which already exceeds the bonus itself.
Bonuses matter because they extend playing time and reduce variance when used carefully, but the common mistake is treating bonus credit as free money. Maximum-bet caps, game-weighting rules (table games and live dealer titles often contribute 10% or less toward wagering), and time limits frequently make a headline figure far less valuable than it looks. Always read the terms, confirm the game weighting, and check whether your preferred deposit method excludes you from the offer. Set deposit limits first and treat any bonus as entertainment value, not a guaranteed return.
