What is Grind?

Grinding means playing steadily and consistently over a long period, accumulating small profits through disciplined, low-variance decisions rather than chasing one large win. A grinder is a player — most often in poker or advantage play — who earns through volume and edge maintenance, accepting modest hourly returns in exchange for sustainability. The same word describes clearing bonus money: methodically meeting a Wagering Requirement on low-volatility games is called grinding through the playthrough. Worked example: a cash-game poker player who wins at 5 big blinds per 100 hands at a table with a 1/2 blind structure (big blind = 2) earns an expected 5 x 2 = 10 per 100 hands.
