What it means in practice

A scorecast is a combined football bet that pairs a goalscorer selection with the correct final score of the same match, settling as a winner only if both legs land. The goalscorer leg is usually the first goalscorer, though many bookmakers also offer an anytime-goalscorer version at shorter odds. Because the two outcomes are strongly correlated, a first goalscorer largely dictates how a scoreline can unfold, bookmakers price scorecasts from a dedicated matrix rather than simply multiplying two independent prices, and the resulting odds are typically enhanced compared with backing each market separately. The bet is popular because it turns a small stake into a potentially large return: you are effectively predicting who opens the scoring and exactly how the match ends. That precision makes it low-strike-rate and high-variance, so it suits occasional punts rather than a core staking strategy. Worked example: you back Erling Haaland as first goalscorer in a 2-1 home win at combined scorecast odds of 16.00. A 5-pound stake returns 80 pounds (75-pound profit) only if Haaland scores the game's first goal and the match finishes exactly 2-1. If he scores first but it ends 3-1, or if a team-mate opens the scoring in a 2-1 win, the bet loses in full. A wincast, by contrast, replaces first goalscorer with anytime goalscorer and pays less. For value, compare the enhanced scorecast price against manually combining the first-goalscorer and correct-score odds; the correlation-based enhancement is where the edge, or the trap, lives. Compare with wincast, correct score, first goalscorer and anytime goalscorer.

Why it matters

A definition like this one decides what an offer is actually worth. The same wording turns up in bonus terms, on payment pages and in game rules, and it is usually where a promotion’s real cost is hiding — so it is worth reading an operator’s own terms with this meaning in mind rather than the marketing above them.

You must be of legal gambling age where you live — 18 in most markets, 19 or 21 in others. Understanding a term does not make an outcome more likely: casino games are built to return less than they take over time. Set deposit and time limits before you play.
