Two rules decide most bonus outcomes

Once a bonus is active, two clauses do more work than the headline multiplier: how much each game contributes towards wagering, and the maximum stake allowed while the requirement is open. Both are enforced by the platform, and both can be applied after the fact.

Weighting is a multiplier on your real turnover

A contribution percentage does not change the wagering requirement; it changes how much you must actually stake to satisfy it. Divide the requirement by the contribution to get the true turnover:

• At 100% contribution, a requirement of 1,000 needs 1,000 staked.
• At 20%, the same requirement needs 5,000 staked.
• At 10%, it needs 10,000 staked — ten times the nominal figure.

This is why a low multiplier on a low-weighted category can be harder to clear than a high multiplier on a fully weighted one. The percentage sits between you and the number in the terms.

Excluded is not the same as zero

Terms usually distinguish two states. A category weighted at 0% contributes nothing but is allowed. An excluded game is not permitted at all while a bonus is open, and playing it can breach the terms rather than simply waste turnover. Feature-buy or bonus-buy mechanics, where available, are frequently listed as excluded rather than merely unweighted.

Maximum stake rules

Most bonus policies cap the stake per spin, hand or round until wagering is complete. The cap exists because a large stake on bonus funds converts a small promotional liability into a large one, and it applies whether or not the platform blocks the bet at the time.

That last point causes most disputes. Some systems reject an oversized stake outright; others accept it and flag the account, with the breach reviewed at withdrawal. A bet that was accepted is not evidence that it was permitted.

Bonus balance versus cash balance

Terms describe how the two balances interact, and there is no universal rule. Some operators run a sticky bonus that cannot be withdrawn and disappears once wagering completes; others convert bonus funds to cash on completion. Some spend cash first and only touch bonus funds afterwards, which affects whether the max-bet rule even applies to a given round.

How breaches are usually handled

Where a breach is found, the standard consequences are voiding the bonus, voiding winnings derived from it, or both, with the original deposit usually returned.
