Best odds guaranteed, usually shortened to BOG, is a horse and greyhound racing concession where a bookmaker pays the starting price if it is bigger than the price you took when placing the bet. You are never paid less than the odds you accepted, so the guarantee only settles upward.
Worked example: you back a horse at 4.00 in the morning and it drifts to a starting price of 6.00. With BOG, the winning bet settles at 6.00 rather than 4.00.
Conditions apply and vary widely: time windows, maximum payouts, excluded meetings, and exclusion of free bets or already-enhanced prices are all common. BOG reduces the cost of taking an early price, but it does not remove the bookmaker's margin, and it does not apply to bets struck at the starting price itself.
