What is BLIK?

BLIK is a Polish mobile payment scheme run jointly by the country's major banks. Instead of card details, the payer opens their banking app, generates a six-digit code valid for a couple of minutes, types it into the merchant page and confirms the amount in the app. At gambling sites it is a deposit method rather than a withdrawal one in most cases, because the code flow is designed to push money out of an account and not to receive it. Operators serving the licensed Polish market therefore commonly pair BLIK deposits with a bank transfer for payouts, which means the two directions have different speeds and different limits. The practical points are the same as for any push payment. The code is single use and short lived, so a slow page can expire it. The money leaves a bank account directly, so the deposit appears on a bank statement under the operator's own descriptor. And because no card is involved, a card-issuer gambling block does not apply, while a bank-level one still does.
