A refer-a-friend bonus is a promotional reward paid to an existing player who invites a new customer, and usually to the invitee too, once that referred friend registers and meets a set condition such as making a qualifying deposit or completing a wagering threshold. It is a referral marketing tool that turns loyal players into a low-cost acquisition channel, and the reward can take the form of cash, a free bet, bonus funds or free spins.
Payouts are almost never instant. The referred friend typically has to open a new account, deposit a minimum amount, and often wager it once or more before either party is credited, which protects the operator against bonus abuse and self-referral.
Worked example: an operator advertises "Refer a friend, both get 20 pounds." You send your unique link to a friend, who registers, deposits 10 pounds and stakes it at odds of 1.50 or higher to satisfy a 1x wagering condition. Once that qualifying bet settles, 20 pounds is credited to each of you, sometimes as withdrawable cash, more often as a bonus subject to its own playthrough. Many schemes cap rewards, for instance five successful referrals per year, limiting the total to 100 pounds.
For players and affiliates, read the terms closely: referred accounts must usually be genuinely new and pass KYC, shared devices or IP addresses can trigger a review, and the reward often carries its own wagering requirement and expiry. Never invite people who will not gamble responsibly. Compare with the reload bonus, no-deposit bonus and the broader casino bonus and welcome bonus offers.
