What is Table Maximum?

The table maximum is the largest single bet a casino will accept on a given table, and it exists chiefly to cap the operator's exposure and, in doing so, to defeat aggressive betting-progression systems. Every table carries both a minimum and a maximum, usually printed on a placard by the layout or shown on-screen at a live game. Limits vary widely: a low-stakes roulette table might run £5 to £500, while a high-limit room can post maximums of £10,000 or more per spin. The maximum is the mathematical wall that stops doubling-up systems. Because a casino keeps a fixed house edge on every wager regardless of size, no staking pattern can beat it over time, and the table cap guarantees a losing streak will eventually outrun a player's ability to recover.
