3-D Secure

Payments

3-D Secure is the card authentication step, usually a bank app prompt or one-time code, that confirms a deposit was made by the real cardholder.

3-D Secure is the extra authentication layer that card networks place on online card payments, familiar to players as the one-time code, banking-app prompt or biometric check that appears after entering card details at the cashier. Its job is to prove the person paying is the genuine cardholder, which reduces fraud and shifts liability for disputed transactions away from the merchant. In several markets this kind of strong customer authentication is mandatory rather than optional. For deposits it typically adds only seconds, but payments can fail if the phone number registered with the bank is out of date, the app session times out, or the bank simply blocks gambling transactions. A completed 3-D Secure check does not replace the operator's own identity verification.
