What is Game Re-skin?

A re-skin is a game rebuilt with new artwork, a new name and often a new theme, on top of maths that has not changed. The reel strips, symbol weights, return, volatility and prize table are carried over from an existing title; what is replaced is everything the player sees. Studios do this for reasons that are entirely rational. A tested maths model is expensive to build and expensive to certify, and once a laboratory has verified it, reusing it is far cheaper than starting again. A theme that works in one market may not work in another, and a licensed brand may want a game that behaves like a proven title. A re-skin delivers all of that in a fraction of the time.
