What is Game Remaster?

A game remaster is a studio re-releasing an existing slot with rebuilt presentation and, usually, rebuilt maths. It arrives under a name that is nearly the original's — the same title with a word appended, or a suffix marking a series — and it is a different game with a different specification. The reasons are practical. Older titles were built in technologies browsers have dropped, so a game that cannot run has to be rebuilt to stay in a lobby at all. A studio with a recognised name and no live version of it has an asset it is not using. And a rebuild is an opportunity to fit the title to what sells now: a higher ceiling, a sharper volatility profile, sometimes an extra mode selected before the spin. The consequence for anyone comparing figures is that the numbers do not carry over. A remaster can differ from the original in return, in maximum payout, in volatility and in grid, while the art, the sound and the name a player remembers stay recognisable. Where both versions are still distributed, two builds with almost the same name run side by side at different specifications. Where only the remaster survives, a search for the original's figures returns pages describing a game nobody can now play. The practical check is the release date and the exact name. A studio page that gives a recent date for a title known to be a decade old is describing the rebuild, and its stated return, ceiling and grid belong to that build rather than to the game as it was.
