Half-Time/Full-Time

Half-Time/Full-Time (HT/FT) is a football bet that predicts both the team leading at half-time and the team winning at full-time in a single wager, settling only if both parts land. Because you must call two separate points in the match, the market carries much longer odds than a straight match result — the trade-off for the added precision it demands. A standard HT/FT market offers nine outcomes, since each half can end Home, Draw or Away: Home/Home, Home/Draw, Home/Away, Draw/Home, Draw/Draw, Draw/Away, Away/Home, Away/Draw and Away/Away. The "double-turnaround" selections (such as Away/Home, where the away side leads at the break but the home side wins overall) are the rarest and therefore the most rewarding. Worked example: you back Home/Home at 3.50 with a 20 stake. The home team leads 1-0 at half-time and wins 2-1, so both legs are correct and the bet returns 70 (20 x 3.50) for a 50 profit. Had the match been level at the break but the home side won, the bet would lose despite backing the eventual winner. By contrast, a Draw/Home selection — level at half-time, home win at full-time — might pay 5.00 or more, reflecting its lower implied probability of around 20%. For bettors, HT/FT rewards a read on teams that start slowly and finish strongly, but the compounded uncertainty of two correct calls makes it a higher-variance market than a simple result bet.
