What is Low-Risk Betting?

Low-risk or equal betting covers opposing outcomes to build turnover; bonus terms ban it, and it does not remove the built-in house edge.

What it means in practice

Low-risk betting, sometimes called equal betting or covering, describes wagers that hedge most of the possible outcomes so that turnover is generated with little net exposure. Betting red and black at once on roulette, backing both banker and player at baccarat, or covering nearly every number are the standard examples. Almost all bonus terms explicitly ban it while wagering is outstanding, because the aim is to run up turnover rather than to play the game. Bets identified as low risk are usually excluded from wagering progress, and the bonus itself may be voided along with any winnings. It is worth stressing that covering outcomes does not remove the house edge either: the zero on a roulette wheel and the commission at baccarat still apply, so the pattern loses money over time.

Why it matters

A definition like this one decides what an offer is actually worth. The same wording turns up in bonus terms, on payment pages and in game rules, and it is usually where a promotion’s real cost is hiding — so it is worth reading an operator’s own terms with this meaning in mind rather than the marketing above them.

You must be of legal gambling age where you live — 18 in most markets, 19 or 21 in others. Understanding a term does not make an outcome more likely: casino games are built to return less than they take over time. Set deposit and time limits before you play.
