What it means in practice

A Canadian, also known as a Super Yankee, is a 26-bet wager on five selections that covers every multiple combination between them: 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four-folds and 1 five-fold accumulator. It contains no singles, so at least two of your five selections must win for the bet to return anything. Because you are effectively placing 26 separate bets, the total outlay is 26 times your unit stake, and each winning combination pays out independently. Worked example: you place a £1 Canadian on five horses, making the total stake £26 (26 × £1). Say three of the five win at odds of 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 decimal. The three doubles between those winners return (2×3) + (2×4) + (3×4) = 26 units, and the single treble returns 2×3×4 = 24 units, for £50 in winning combinations against your £26 outlay — a £24 profit. The four-folds and five-fold need four or five winners respectively, so they return nothing here. The Canadian sits between the four-selection Yankee (11 bets) and the six-selection Heinz (57 bets) in the family of full-cover multiple bets. It appeals to bettors who want accumulator-style upside while still collecting on partial success, though the multiplied stake means it is more expensive than a single acca. Each-way Canadians double the bet count to 52 and the stake accordingly. Always confirm your unit stake before placing, as many bettors mistake the per-line stake for the total cost. Compare with the Yankee, the Heinz, the Lucky 15 (which adds singles) and the plain accumulator.

Why it matters

A definition like this one decides what an offer is actually worth. The same wording turns up in bonus terms, on payment pages and in game rules, and it is usually where a promotion’s real cost is hiding — so it is worth reading an operator’s own terms with this meaning in mind rather than the marketing above them.

You must be of legal gambling age where you live — 18 in most markets, 19 or 21 in others. Understanding a term does not make an outcome more likely: casino games are built to return less than they take over time. Set deposit and time limits before you play.
