What is FTD?

First-Time Depositor (FTD) is the central conversion metric in iGaming affiliate marketing. An FTD is a referred player who registers and then makes a first real-money deposit meeting the operator's minimum threshold. CPA payments are triggered by an FTD, and RevShare begins accumulating from the FTD onward, so this single event is where affiliate income starts. Worked example: an affiliate sends 1,000 clicks; 80 visitors register and 20 of those make a qualifying deposit, a 2% click-to-FTD rate. On a $120 CPA deal that is $2,400 paid up front. On a RevShare deal, those same 20 players' net gaming revenue accrues to the affiliate month after month for as long as they remain active. FTDs matter because they are the moment a click turns into a paying customer, and the headline number against which traffic quality is judged. The common mistake is chasing raw FTD volume while ignoring quality. Low-deposit, bonus-only players carry poor lifetime value and may even be clawed back under negative carryover, where a player's net losses to the operator roll forward and reduce future RevShare.
