La Partage

La Partage is a French roulette rule that returns half of a losing even-money bet when the ball lands on zero, cutting the house edge on those bets from 2.70% to about 1.35%. The name is French for "the sharing" or "the division," and the rule applies only to even-money wagers such as red or black, odd or even, and high or low. It is a defining feature of authentic French roulette and one of the best value bets available in any casino. Unlike the En Prison rule, which imprisons your stake for one more spin, La Partage settles immediately: you simply get half back and the bet is over. Both rules produce the same long-run 1.35% edge on even-money bets, but La Partage is cleaner and faster. Worked example: you stake €10 on red on a single-zero wheel with La Partage. The ball lands on zero. Rather than losing the full €10, the rule returns €5 and you forfeit €5.
