Minimum Odds Requirement

Bonuses

Minimum odds requirement is the lowest price (e.g. 1.50 decimal, -200 American) a bet must meet to qualify for a free bet, bonus release or promotion.

A minimum odds requirement is the lowest price a bet must be placed at for it to count toward releasing a free bet, unlocking a bonus, or qualifying for a promotion. It is stated as a threshold, most commonly 1.50 in decimal odds, equivalent to -200 in American odds or 1/2 in fractional odds, and any qualifying selection must meet or exceed that price. The rule exists because operators do not want players clearing offers on heavily favoured, near-certain outcomes. Betting at 1.10 to trigger a free bet risks almost nothing, so bookmakers set a floor that forces genuine risk into qualifying bets. The requirement can apply to the qualifying deposit bet, to how a free bet stake itself must be used, or to both, so the terms and conditions should always be read for which side it governs. Worked example: an offer reads "bet 20 GBP at odds of 1.50 or greater, get a 10 GBP free bet." A 20 GBP stake at 1.40 does not qualify, because 1.40 is below the 1.50 floor. Placing the same 20 GBP at 1.55 clears the threshold and releases the free bet. If your free bet also carries a 1.50 minimum, you cannot cash it out on a 1.20 favourite; you must find a selection priced at 1.50 or longer. For affiliates, quoting the minimum odds alongside the headline figure builds trust, since a "free bet" locked behind a 2.00 floor is far harder to claim than one set at 1.50. Compare with free bet, wagering requirement and decimal odds.
