What is Match Deposit Bonus?

A match deposit bonus, also called a deposit match, is a promotion in which the casino grants bonus credit equal to a stated percentage of the amount you deposit. It is the most common form of welcome offer and is sometimes split across several deposits. Typical structures include a 100% match, which doubles your deposit, a 200% match, which triples it, and a 50% match, which adds half again. Worked example: a 100% match up to 200 means that a 200 deposit is topped up with 200 in bonus credit, giving 400 to play with. The figure that determines real value, however, is the wagering requirement attached. If that 200 bonus carries a 35x playthrough, you must wager 35 x 200 = 7,000 before the bonus and any winnings from it can be withdrawn. Game contribution rates also apply: slots usually count 100% towards the requirement, while table games such as blackjack might count only 10% or be excluded entirely. Why it matters: the headline percentage is eye-catching, but the wagering requirement, the maximum bet rule and the contribution table decide whether the offer is genuinely worth claiming. A common mistake is to deposit for the match without reading these terms, then discover that the bonus is effectively locked behind an unrealistic turnover, or that a single large bet during the bonus voids everything.
