Network Confirmation

A network confirmation is the act of a blockchain permanently recording a transaction inside a mined block, and each additional block built on top counts as one more confirmation. When you send crypto to a casino, the payment first sits unconfirmed in the mempool; once miners or validators include it in a block it has one confirmation, and every subsequent block deepens it, making the transaction progressively harder to reverse. Online casinos require a fixed number of confirmations before crediting a deposit precisely because a transaction with too few confirmations could still be undone by a chain reorganisation or double-spend. Worked example: you deposit 0.02 BTC and the casino demands 3 confirmations. Bitcoin produces a block roughly every 10 minutes, so you typically wait about 30 minutes before the funds appear in your balance. On Ethereum, where blocks arrive every 12 seconds, a 12-confirmation requirement clears in roughly two to three minutes. Litecoin, with 2.5-minute blocks, sits in between. Networks with faster, smaller blocks are cheaper to attack, so casinos often demand more confirmations there to reach equivalent security. For players, the confirmation count directly determines deposit speed: a higher requirement means a longer wait but greater settlement certainty, and paying a larger network fee can speed up inclusion in the next block but does not reduce the number of confirmations required.
