What is Hash Verification?

Hash verification is the step in a provably fair game where you confirm that the server seed revealed after a bet matches the cryptographic hash the casino published before the bet, proving the result was fixed in advance and not altered. Because a hash function such as SHA-256 turns any input into a fixed, one-way string, the operator can commit to a secret server seed by showing only its hash. Once the round is settled and the seed is revealed, you re-hash it yourself and compare. Worked example: before play, a crypto casino publishes the server-seed hash a1b2c3...9f. You place a 0.001 BTC dice bet, and the outcome is derived from a combination of that server seed, your client seed, and a nonce. After the bet you request the seed to be revealed, getting the plaintext string 8f2k7d...q4. You paste it into any SHA-256 tool and the output is a1b2c3...9f — an exact match to the pre-published hash. That proves the operator could not have swapped the seed to change your result. If even one character of the revealed seed differed, the hash would be completely different and the check would fail. For players and affiliates, hash verification is the practical test of whether a "provably fair" claim is real or just marketing. Reputable crypto casinos expose the pre-bet hash, the revealed seed, and the nonce, and often provide an in-page verifier; independent tools let you confirm without trusting theirs.
