What is Fiat On-Ramp?

A fiat on-ramp is the service that converts ordinary money into cryptocurrency so it can be deposited somewhere that only accepts coins. It may sit inside a crypto casino's cashier as a widget, making the deposit feel like an ordinary card payment, or it may be a separate step the player takes at an exchange before sending the funds on. A third-party provider takes the card or bank payment, runs its own identity and anti-money-laundering checks, buys the coin, and sends it to the wallet address given. The casino is usually not that provider; it has embedded somebody else's flow. Two sets of terms therefore apply to a single deposit, and the provider decides on its own whether to approve it. Because the on-ramp is a separate business, it has its own verification thresholds, its own per-transaction and monthly limits, and its own spread — the rate is usually worse than the market rate, and the cost often sits inside that rate rather than appearing as a fee. An anonymous crypto deposit funded by card is not anonymous at the point the money entered: the card, the identity behind it and the destination address are all recorded by the provider.
