An odds bet is an additional wager available in craps once a point number has been established, placed behind an existing line bet and settled at the true mathematical odds of that point repeating before a seven. Because it is paid at true odds, the casino takes no margin on this portion of the stake; the house still holds its normal edge on the line bet the odds are attached to. Tables cap how much can be backed, expressed as a multiple of the original bet. The important caveat is exposure: taking odds means more money on the table each roll, so wins and losses both get larger and a bankroll can move faster than a player expects. Taking odds reduces no risk on its own and does not make craps a break-even game; it only splits a larger total stake between one wager that carries margin and one that does not.
