Phishing

Phishing is a message designed to make you enter your login details, card number or verification documents on a page controlled by someone other than the operator. It arrives as email, SMS, a chat message or an advert, and it usually imitates a brand closely enough to pass a glance. Phishing aimed at gambling accounts rarely looks threatening. It typically offers a bonus or a free-spins code, requests a verification document, or warns that a withdrawal has been placed on hold. Each of these creates a reason to log in immediately, from the message, rather than from an app or a bookmark. The defence does not depend on spotting a fake. Operators do not need your password and will not ask for it, and a genuine notice will still be waiting when you open the site yourself. Never follow the link; always arrive independently. Two-factor authentication limits the damage when a password is given away anyway.
