What is Session?

A session is a single continuous period of play, from logging in or sitting down to stopping. Operators use it as a technical unit for account security and for responsible-gambling tools, and players use it as the natural unit for tracking time and money. Session results say very little about a game's underlying maths: over a few dozen rounds, variance dominates, so a winning session does not indicate a favourable game and a losing one does not mean a game is due to pay. What sessions do reveal is behaviour, especially sessions that run longer than planned or that get extended to recover a loss. Setting a session limit, a time-out reminder or a stop time before starting keeps that decision away from the moment it is hardest to make.
