What is Pot-Limit Game?

A pot-limit game caps any bet or raise at the current size of the pot, sitting between fixed-limit and no-limit in how much money can move on a single decision. Pot-Limit Omaha, usually written PLO, is the format most associated with it. Working out a maximum raise trips up newcomers: you count the pot, add the bets already made in that round, then add the amount you would call. If the pot holds 100 and an opponent bets 20, your maximum raise is 100 + 20 + 20 = 140 on top of the call. Online tables normally calculate the figure for you with a pot button. The structure allows very large pots late in a hand while preventing an early all-in shove, so swings sit below no-limit but above fixed-limit.
