What is Round Handicap?

A round handicap is an esports betting market that applies a virtual round margin to one team within a single map of a round-based title such as CS2 or Valorant, adjusting the final score before it settles your bet. The favourite is given a negative handicap (for example -3.5 rounds) that is subtracted from their round total, while the underdog receives the matching positive handicap (+3.5) that is added to theirs. Your selection wins only if it "covers" the spread after that adjustment, which lets you back a strong favourite at longer odds or a likely loser who should still keep the map competitive. The half-round (the .5) removes the possibility of a push, so a bet either wins or loses outright with no stake refund. Worked example: on a CS2 map you back Team A at -3.5 rounds at odds of 1.85 with a EUR 50 stake. If Team A wins the map 13-8, their margin is 5 rounds, which beats the 3.5 line, so the bet wins and returns EUR 92.50 (EUR 42.50 profit). Had they won only 13-11, the 2-round margin fails to cover -3.5 and the bet loses, even though Team A won the map. Backing Team B at +3.5 (say 1.95) would have won in that 13-11 scenario, because their adjusted score of 11 + 3.5 = 14.5 tops Team A's 13. For affiliates, round handicaps are a common way to surface value on lopsided matchups where the moneyline is priced too short to be attractive.
