What is Total Maps?

Total Maps is an over/under bet on how many maps an esports series will last, letting you wager on whether the match runs long or ends quickly rather than picking a winner. In a best-of-three, the standard market is over/under 2.5 maps: "over" wins if the series reaches a decisive third map (a 2-1 result), while "under" wins if one team sweeps 2-0. Bookmakers set the same market in longer formats, such as over/under 3.5 maps in a best-of-five, where "over" needs the series to go to at least a fourth game. The market appears across titles played in map- or game-based series, including CS2, Valorant, League of Legends and Dota 2. Because the line is set at a half number (2.5, 3.5), there is no possibility of a push, so every settled bet is a clear win or loss. Worked example: a best-of-three carries over 2.5 maps at 2.10 and under 2.5 maps at 1.72. You stake £50 on over 2.5. If the series ends 2-1, three maps are played, so "over" wins and returns £105 (£50 x 2.10) for a £55 profit. If either team wins 2-0, only two maps are played, "under" cashes, and your over bet loses. The 1.72 under price implies roughly a 58% chance of a clean sweep. For affiliates, Total Maps is a useful teaching example of totals betting because the possible outcomes in a best-of-three are limited and easy to illustrate. Only bet what you can afford to lose.
