What is Tiered Revenue Share?

A commission rate that steps up with volume — and the detail that decides everything is whether the higher rate resets to zero each month.

What it means in practice

A tiered revenue share is a commission structure where the percentage an affiliate earns rises as they deliver more, usually measured in new depositing players per month. A typical ladder pays one rate up to ten new players, a higher one from eleven to thirty, and a higher one again beyond that. The detail that decides what the deal is actually worth is not the rates. It is whether the tier is retroactive, and whether it resets. Under a retroactive tier, hitting the higher band lifts the rate on every player that month, including the ones already counted. Under a non-retroactive one, only the players above the threshold earn the better rate. Those two produce noticeably different cheques from identical traffic, and the contract does not always say which it means in plain terms. The reset is the sharper edge. Almost all of these ladders are assessed month by month, so an affiliate who reached the top band in one month starts the next at the bottom again, and the higher rate applies only to that month's revenue rather than becoming the permanent rate on players already referred. An affiliate who reads the ladder as a promotion rather than as a monthly test will forecast income that does not arrive. Tiering is also a retention device, and understanding that helps in negotiation. It rewards concentrating traffic on one operator rather than spreading it, because volume split across three programmes may reach the bottom tier of all three. That is the behaviour the structure is designed to buy.

Why it matters

A definition like this one decides what an offer is actually worth. The same wording turns up in bonus terms, on payment pages and in game rules, and it is usually where a promotion’s real cost is hiding — so it is worth reading an operator’s own terms with this meaning in mind rather than the marketing above them.

You must be of legal gambling age where you live — 18 in most markets, 19 or 21 in others. Understanding a term does not make an outcome more likely: casino games are built to return less than they take over time. Set deposit and time limits before you play.
