What is Block Explorer?

A block explorer is a public website that lets anyone look up transactions, addresses and blocks on a given blockchain. Because the ledger is public, a deposit or withdrawal can be checked independently of what either the casino or your wallet says about it. The practical use is settling the question of where a payment actually is. Paste the transaction hash the sending side gave you and the explorer shows the sending and receiving addresses, the amount, the fee paid, the number of confirmations, and whether the transaction is still pending. That tells you which side is waiting on which: a transaction with plenty of confirmations that has not credited is a question for the operator, while one still unconfirmed is a question for the network and the fee that was paid. Two cautions. Each chain has its own explorers, so use one for the network the transaction was actually sent on. And a transaction appearing on-chain proves it was broadcast, not that it reached the right account — a deposit sent without a required memo can be visible on the explorer and still be unallocated.
