What is Live Stream Latency?

Live stream latency is the gap between an event happening in the studio and the video of it reaching a player's screen. Encoding, transmission and buffering all add delay, and the total varies with connection quality, so two people watching the same table are not necessarily seeing the same instant. This is why the betting window is governed by the server and not by the video. Bets close at a moment fixed on the operator's side, and the countdown you see is a representation of that moment adjusted for your own delay. A player on a slow connection sees the wheel later than a player on a fast one, and if bets closed on the video instead, the slower player could bet on an outcome already known to the faster one. The practical consequences are worth knowing. A late bet is rejected by the server rather than accepted and reversed, which is why a click that felt in time can still be refused. Falling behind badly enough usually triggers a resynchronisation, where the stream jumps forward to catch up, and a round already resolved may appear to skip. Neither is a malfunction. A genuine interruption — where the round itself cannot be completed — is handled by a separate procedure that voids and returns stakes, and is a different thing from a stream that merely arrived late.
