What is Reel Anticipation?

Reel anticipation is the deliberate slowdown a slot applies to its remaining reels once enough scatters have landed to make a feature possible. Two scatters are on screen, three are needed, and the third reel suddenly crawls, often with a rising sound and a change of music. It is a presentation layer and nothing more. The outcome of every reel was decided by the random number generator at the moment the spin was requested; the slow stop is an animation played over a result that already exists. Nothing about the delay changes what the reel will show, and the game is not deciding anything while you watch. It is still worth understanding rather than dismissing, for two reasons.
